Shi Yong = practical / real use.

SELF DEFENSE / PROFESSIONAL COMPETITION

Based on methods of Soft Fist Chinese Boxing and Grappling, Traditional Judo and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Also adding elements(techniques/drills) of other arts such as Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai. Practice involves stand-up and ground methods: striking, throwing, joint locking and submission. All catagories will be combined, to deal with real life situations, with light sparring and testing.

Shi Yong Programs: youth safety-defense program, basic self-protection(adults), and training for individuals in private security. Ranking/Evaluation will be a part of some programs.

*Shi Yong -ranking/evaluation: Currently Champions ATC/ Shi Yong M.A. are not an offical member of any family system. Any ranking of individual training in ground grappling will be based on the cirriculum of Shi Yong. The program of Shi Yong DOES work in association with individuals who are offical practitioners of Gracie(BJJ) Jiu-jitsu.  

Shaui Jiao / Taiji Quan
 

Shuai Jiao/Kuai Jiao:  Traditional/Fast Wrestling. A stand up grappling-combat system involving throws/take downs, locks and strikes(using all parts of the limbs). Stance and posture work develop great strength and balance for functional movements. Shuai Jiao provides a good foundation to one's martial practice, greatly enhancing one's *grappling and striking skills of Taiji Quan, Ba Gua Zhang, & Xing Yi Quan. 

Taiji Quan(Tai Chi Chuan) Grand Ultimate Fist, balance and interplay of opposites. Quan=Fist, indicating a way of unarmed combat/defense. Principles of the art emphasis using soft to over come direct hardness, and then returning it. Practice includes drills for sensitivity and power as movements are performed at natural speeds for grappling and striking.

Zhuan Zhang / Xing Yi Quan
 

Zhuan Zhang(turning palm), now recognized as Ba Gua Zhang(8 Diagram Palm). Zhang= Palm, the use of the hand, indicating an unarmed system of combat/defense. A soft (flexible/natural) system, with principles of continuous change, evasiveness and the ability to overcome an opponent with the skill of new position and body use. Drills involve circle walking, foot work and full body training. Practice will also include the use of power strikes combined with joint locks and throws.

Xing Yi Quan(Hsing I Chuan), Form Mind/Will Boxing. Quan=Fist, indicating a martial system of combat/defense. Based on the Five Fist Methods train direct and to the point with similar skill development as western boxing. The 12 Animal Method - based on the foundation of the five fist will take further in developing all around skills.

COMPLETE TRAINING IN BOTH SYSTEMS DEVELOPS:  WHOLE BODY POWER, GREAT AGILITY, DIRECT FOCUSE OF APLLIPIED ENERGY.

Ground Defense / Fighting

Jiu-Jitsu: From ancient times man has survived and maintained his lively hood with wrestling/grappling. Specific skills and practice have developed for the defense and control on the ground. Methods of practice will come from Traditional Judo and Gracie Jiu-jitsu. Practice will focus primarily on performing in real life situation. Some sport involvment will take place to help with individual skill development.

*Traditional JJ = The practice of ground methods, to bring things under control and /or end the situation, NOT to score points.
